2023 Fall College Fair

2023 Fall College Fair

The Student Success Center at APRCHS was proud to host our Annual Fall College Fair on Thursday October 19th, 2023.
During the Fall College Fair EVERY STUDENT at APRCHS attends the College Fair either during their English class or by invitation.
The College Fair is held in the Gymnasium and hosted representatives from over 60 Colleges and post-secondary choices.
The Fall College Fair is part of APRCHS’ commitment to the Four-Year College Process where students begin researching their post-secondary options in Freshman Year.
The Fall College Fair is followed up by the Spring College Fair that is exclusive to students in their 3rd year at APRCHS and allows them to take a deeper look at their choices.

Thank you to Good Shepherd Services (https://goodshepherds.org/) for being our partner in running the Student Success Center at APRCHS. Special thanks to Mr. Stevens and Ms. Tsunami Ubiera ’20 who represent GSS and are always there for our students.
Thank you to Sound Business Inc (https://www.soundbusiness.org/) for being our partner in the college process for the last 33 years. This year Dr. Downing led the Student Achievement Center’s efforts to push into 9th and 10th grade classrooms to help prepare them for the College Fair.
Thank you to the folks at College Action Research and Action (CARA) (https://www.gc.cuny.edu/center-human-environments/research-sub-groups/college-access-research-action ) for their partnership in preparing our eight Youth Leaders.
Our Youth Leaders are current Juniors and Seniors who work as paid interns for the Student Success Center (SSC).
The Youth Leaders spend the summer learning how to be College Counselors and dramatically expand the breadth of post secondary support services that we can provide our students.
Thank you to Mrs. Goris, our full time College Counselor for coordinating all of the details that made this event a success.
Thank you to Ms. Caro ’19 who works closely with the Youth Leaders and serves as a mentor and facilitator for their work.
Thank you to Gavin and the entire facilities team for transforming the GYM into a College Fair and back into an athletic space so quickly each year.
Thank you to the High School for Science and Mathematics (HSMSE) for being a valued neighbor and partner with running these annual events.
Thank you to the Mott Hall High School (MHHS) for joining us this years as guests at this years fair. Your presence improved the experience for all of us.
