NURTURE SPRT at APRCHS

NURTURE SPRT at APRCHS

A. Philip Randolph Campus High School is blessed to work with many wonderful community partners.
I visited with NURTURE SPRT yesterday (11/01/23) as they worked with our student-athletes in the Library.

NURTURE SPRT (https://nurturesprt.info)  is working with our scholar-athletes to include their athletic achievements as part of their college admissions process.
71% of high school athletes and parents say that the recruiting process (for college sports) is confusing and difficult.
Our partnership allows the Student Success Center at APRCHS to provide an additional layer of support for our student-athletes.
NURTURE SPRT provides weekly workshops to all grade levels of scholar-athletes at APRCHS to help them develop their profile.
Many of these workshops include guest speakers from College and Professional sports.

Yesterday 11/02/23 the scholars were treated to a live-stream conversation with Asante Cleveland.
Mr. Cleveland played tight end for the Miami Hurricanes, the San Francisco 49ers, the New England Patriots, and the San Diego/LA Chargers.
Mr. Cleveland had some very frank conversations with the students about his journey as a scholar-athlete, balancing school and sports, and his evolution from a basketball player to a professional football player. Mr. Cleveland made himself available for a question-and-answer period with the students where he elaborated about his journey.

Many thanks to Ms. Tajay Ashmeade for making this experience, and this program available to our students.
The APRCHS School Community experienced the positive affect that NURTURE SPRT had on our College Admissions last year, and we look forward to many years of working together to support the dreams of our scholar-athletes.
