Randolph LogoWelcome to A. Philip Randolph Campus High School (APRCHS).

APRCHS was founded in 1979 as an educational collaboration between the New York City Department of Education the City College of New York. Since that time APRCHS has produced generations of successful students who have gone on to great success in college and  their adult careers.

A. Philip Randolph said that :David Fanning

“A community is democratic only when the humblest and  weakest person can enjoy the highest civil, economic, and social rights that the biggest and most powerful  possess.”

The mission of A. Philip Randolph Campus High School is to meet that challenge and provide the highest quality education to  public high school students in order to provide them with the skills and experiences necessary to prepare them  to succeed in our nation’s top competitive colleges and universities.

APRCHS provides its students with the opportunity to pursue academic excellence by participating in advanced courses of study in our medical, engineering, and humanities academies. Students in the academies are   expected to complete rigorous coursework in their respective fields that will better prepare them for their collegiate experiences in these areas. Students who distinguish themselves in their coursework have the opportunity to enroll in free college courses through the City College of New York (CCNY). Students who maintain an average of 85+ are invited to participate in special Honors Programs such as the Gateway to Medicine pre-med honors society, Pathways to Engineering (P2E), the APRCHS/CCNY Teaching Pipeline, and the National Honor Society (NHS). Each of these organizations meet weekly and provide their members with access to special programs , exclusive events, and college trips, and are given access to exclusive internships.

Students who wish to distinguish themselves in the field of linguistics are invited to join our Dual Language Program. The Dual Language Program exists in addition to the three academies and allows students to pursue true biliteracy in English and Spanish. Students are challenged to take their core classes of Math, Social Studies, Science, and ELA/NLA in a fully bilingual environment. Many students who graduate from this program take both AP English as well as AP Spanish. We are proud to have had as many as 50 students (2024) receive the New York State Seal of Biliteracy on their diplomas. This is an impressive achievement for them, and one that will distinguish them from other applicants to competitive colleges, universities, and employers.

APRCHS offers a wide range of extra-curricular and athletic activities to broaden and engage our students outside of the classroom. Our after school activities range from activities such as theatre, dance, musical and arts productions to exciting STEM activities such as our Robotics Team that participates in the US NAVY SEAPERCH competition every year, and our Pathways to Engineering Team who went to the State Finals for our Drone Soccer Team (2024). APRCHS offers a full range of PSAL endorsed sports, 27 teams which include: Varsity and JV Tackle Football (‘22 Champions), Varsity and JV baseball, basketball, track, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, Cheerleading/STUNT, swimming, volleyball, and wrestling.

Finally, APRCHS boasts one of the finest and most comprehensive College Office experiences in the city. Our Student Success Center (SSC) supports a full time College Counselor (Ms. Goris), a full time coordinator (Ms. Caro ‘19), and a full time representative from our Community Partner Good Shepherd Services (Mr. Stevens). The SSC trains 8 current APRCHS upperclassmen to work as college counselors during their lunch periods and after school. These students are paid workers and allow us to offer a level of support far beyond what you would expect at a public high school. The SSC pushes into classrooms for workshops starting with freshman year and offers special events that engage students from every grade level. This allows us to offer a truly comprehensive 4 year College Process for all of our students. Students have access to free college visits from freshman year and have the opportunity for overnight trips in Junior and Senior Year. Every student participates in one of our two college fairs a year which attract up to 80 colleges, universities, and post secondary institutions. The SSC supports students with the traditional college application process as well as offering support for the NCAA clearing house, trade schools, and careers in the armed forces. The SSC provides support for students tailored for their personal circumstances such as citizenship, language proficiency (we are fully bilingual), or individualized education plans (IEP).
