go and I know there were lots of questions in the chat about this summer youth program this people just to portion of that program you have been waiting for I'm not sure who will be kicking it off mrs. Meyers Miss Polanco Sanchez are you gay available yes we are thank you so much for having us this evening good evening everyone I'm on a masonic Myers and I'm the director of Catholic Charities Alianza youth employment programs and I'm actually going to pass this off to Michael what do you mean everybody my name is Michael Sanchez on my job developer here for a Catholic Charities Alianza Division and I'll pass it on to Adrian sorry it took so long to unmute my mouse is acting up it would be expected with a snap of a finger on the my name is Adrian Polanco I'm a former Randolph alumni so I'm glad to be here and we're definitely looking forward to working with all the participants all the students all the staff members once again I'm so happy that this happening right now so I might not be the best person to be great thank you for that Polanco so on the first day that you know when we did his presentation when I did this music station last year it was in the high or right before the beginning of the pandemic and I just want to say thank you all to the parent that actually continue to you no thank you without one parent particular I know it's him is Nathaniel are so thank you so much for encouraging your son to continue to work with us over the summer but we're going to happen to presentation is now so that we could get adjusted with this program is all about so right now what I'm going to do is going to share my screen we all can see it at this point right you can try to talk to give me a yes and a chat or you guys give me a thumbs up. Be cool but I think I'm seeing it here so thank you guys so much so career-ready syep I know that this is something very new that some of you don't know about but I'm going to kick off with just Catholic Charities and Alianza what services that we provide so as you all know Catholic Charities is I want to say a big organization that goes above and beyond to help everyone within York City in other state there a need we do provide other services besides youth employment and that Services could be arranging from housing what is a food or anything of that nature that we see on the screen even immigration services on we can also also families here I'm just in case that you're definitely interested in looking forward to that I'm so feel free to reach out to us after this visitation if you are in need of any of this help but we also have the phone number here on the screen on this 888-7447 00 that you can reach out to in order to find out more about the services outside of that the Alianza division is a small but very large division within Catholic Charities definitely goes beyond above and beyond to help young people throughout New York City in order to gain different experiences whether that be social emotional opportunities youth employment opportunities or even just an opportunity to just be a part of a community and find their place in their space I'm also added some websites are on the presentation that you could actually find more about our precise niche of programming I'm also have my email and our director divisional record come out here just in case you want to reach out to us precisely find out more ways in order to connect with us and our young people and I'm not going to pass this on to Michael was going to dive into what syep is all about or Adrian either wanting you guys want to do it more than happy to take over there not a problem so that some of you may know you know we may have some prior participants hear the Summer Youth Employment Program is the nation's largest Youth Employment Program which is around 75,000 people young people every year right so these young people are usually from the ages of 14 to 21 and you know to lease programs or more participants have the opportunity to work in a variety of different fields of employment with a variety of different people of different backgrounds and you know just it's a great chance for you know young people to explore different right so you know by participating in this truck should be project and work beat opportunity six weeks New York City youth are better prepared for careers for the future and I mean as a lot of you know nowadays it's very hard to build a resume outside of a program like what we provide employers want more experience experience experience but kind of block away for young people to get the experience so that's where we come in and you know we're able to extend that kind of mentorship in which prices of a drive is develop socially emotionally passionately you know in an in all those kinds of ways in order to be able to successfully have a good resume by the time baby graduate so as I said the program runs for ages what is the 21 we do divided up into two cohorts which are the younger Youth and building so if you are 14 15 years old as you know you have your blue card to drink I don't remember which one it is right now it's been a little while since I've had but you know you're able to engage in different opportunities unemployment even when you're 14 15 years old right so we really do fully Romo nowadays because of this give you the best possible experience even if it's not Hands-On and in person right so it's fully remote it's it's what is 6 hours different kinds of music career Readiness training and you you work 12 and a half hours per week at the end of this and then we have the older you now it gets a little sometimes right age of 16 to 21 I able to work up to 25 hours a week at $15 an hour you know that you also get your ear development and a little more 610 hours right but you actually have hybrid with Israel remote and then party person are awfully impressed and I know there's a lot of you guys want to either or both at the same time also just keep in mind of programs do run from July 6th to August 21st right now are we doing the framework or or which one came first I think you could pass the ball over tonight I think my cousin got you got your list are some of the overall goals in Aurora the program in general one key thing that I want you guys to all my friends are young youth group this year does not need working papers tell me what something I will jump over and I'm going to be very important cuz I do do you still doesn't need top they're working papers handy so something we focus on her career awareness free exploration and planning career preparation Career Training these are all star Staffing on project-based learning problems in their communities and come up with a solution by working together and that's what they were focus would be throughout the program working together and actually be working hands on with their work site gaining. Xperia and they do work on a bit more Hands-On then the younger crowd because they are completing 25 hours a week yeah I know another big Focus that the older you focus a little bit more intense on the resume building interview skills navigating workplace behaviors and financing your future this is one of the most important thing that we do like to focus on getting a great opportunity to the best of their advantage moving forward add up here cuz I just noticed that we step over to slides right so I want to just I just want to know take some time to really iron out the difference between career-ready program and are community-based program so those of you who are most both of you here probably most likely familiar with the community-based contract We're Young People apply right and right but because we are partnering with the school for the career ready program you guys have a special place in line I say this because there are certain amount of slots that dedicated to this school precisely for the young people that apply I can't stay precisely what that number is but what I'm saying is that you definitely have your increased chances of getting selected through the career-ready contracts in Ibiza temporary contract movie exists understand that there is a huge connection between education and their careers so we're definitely go and too deep into we definitely go deep into why education is important how to really again match that career out with education so I just in case you guys are wondering about that that is why the there is two different contracts involved here and I know the next question probably okay so what if I don't get selected for qurbani Dua then you know what happened so do some people that do not get selected for the career ready school-based option application will automatically go into the community-based option so that you could have still have your chances of getting so I can I see that we have a question what do you mean it must be must complete at least 6 hours right so everyone has to do some type of orientation or some type of work Readiness training so those those pants are currently canoe with that model almost like we had to do 48 Hours of orientation but for the Caribbean contract you got to do the same thing similar to that but also a deeper dive into career exploration and understanding what workplace Dynamics are important Within I want to say that experience for a job okay I know that last year we use a flat from court has two ladders I'm heading out as will be here again this year and I know that the conversation may happen in the wall or we can have to do the same thing that has not as we did last year so no head somebody's is tweaking the platform a bit so that young people that did it last year is going to build upon their progress from last year so I hope that you know some questions or concerns can I can just take over from here since I've since I since I skipped over the slide right so when it comes to documents all young people that have to complete or actually submit some documents once they get so like if you haven't left yet you're not worried about this right now cuz you're not going to submit it but I would say you may want to get a jump start on actually obtaining these documents right now okay so I know this is kind of hard to see I'm going to share the dispensation with Gavin and mr. painting so that they can actually send it you guys but for younger you precisely I know the questions of meat do they need working papers and how we going to be able to obtain them younger you do not need working papers so young people ages 14 and 15 do not need to obtain working papers only do need to obtain working papers if they can return 16 by July 6th but by July 6th going to be sixteen they do need to obtain working papers for young people 16 and up of course they must have to obtain working papers in order to be a part of this program not taking a deeper look into this document checklist I need a picture ID they're going to need some sort of on certificate social security card and no that came up for a lot of us last summer so I want to say definitely start applying or contacting any different organizations or agencies that you need in order to obtain is work is going to be a huge requirement in order to continue your selection process outside of that you need a proof of address this is very simply can be obtained from your school has ACS play 80s report or letter I'm outside of that you going to need some type of proof of income for for all young people whether you're young e4od okay. I'm seeing a lot of questions about how to apply and also about out of papers so I do believe but I can say you may want to contact your school guidance counselor in order to figure out how to obtain those working papers and if I miss speaking I'm pretty sure Gavin or mr. Fanning is going to come on Inn Express exactly how to obtain those working later on Apple Street in patient but I also want to know that all young people's transcript is also going to be needed this is also our way of showing our young people how important are grades are I'm not saying that Grace is a huge requirement for this program but we want to make sure I come people are stylist first before they actually think about the worker almost had the world of jobs right she will make sure I can't people understand that they must do what they have to do in school first and then we can worry about that job later so that is some I want to say key things we also ask that young people bring their resume and it's also helps us help our young person build up on their resume more but if one person does not have a resident right now it is a okay they can work with that team in order to build a resume to an apartheid profolio and again do not submit any documents prior to being selected so do not send any document anywhere unless you get that selection notice from us and when you do get that selection of notes from us email is going to send you a link so you can upload those documents via online so you're not going to have to bring those documents in person you upload those documents online okay so I think that would call my other you could take it over here oh yeah so you can see this is just timeline of how things are going to be running especially starting from now that application have launched all the way down to July and August actual summer for the pay project in the word basics one thing I wanted to mention time management going to be something we focus on a section of the program very important how are you they said they have to keep track of calla lily if they miss and they miss these deadlines by a day they're potentially losing on their opportunity so March 20-21 as we all know application V released already April 20-21 is the application deadline April 23rd election so that's when my child for school base based on the turnpike. That's like the participants for school bus if your if your smile is not so like that they still have the opportunity to enter into the lottery for community-based or may 20-21 what is going to roll me and Youth Development workshops begin so asthma slide fire with that checklist those are the documents that would be collected in order for participant enrollment the youth development workshops will begin so that way they're all ready to begin their work for the project that they'll be working on June twenty work Readiness training paid project and work basic man interviews and placement so after enrollment we have a process where we give the approximate the opportunity to select the worksite based on their career interest in the future or what they want to experience now and then from July through August of 2021 the pay project begun or the workplace experience if you look at the bottom you see the key date so here you'll see the application like I mentioned Friday April 23rd election notice will be April 30th on a Friday for community-based like I mentioned the deadline will be the same April 23rd if you are not selected in the school-based lottery do not worry you're still going to be put back in and you'll be in the community but they still have a great chance of answering lotteries beginning April 27th on a weekly basis will be notified or participant School or selected and will be reaching out to start collecting those documents anyone have any questions regarding that I can just in general we have going on in the chat so give us a second let's just do this for a second so they had was they would have received this email on Monday when applications launch so this is just agreeing to go over the sea that we spoke about in this presentation so far in this message also is the link to apply so I'm going to click on that now and you're going to be brought to this page where you have to start putting that special pan so I'm going to put the information in the chat so that we all can follow through so here is the application link and when you get to the application is going to ask you to enter a pin so if you go back to that email that I sent you guys let's he go back back the pain is highlighted here in Red so CR 91042 SB some copy and that also and I'm putting that in the chat and what I do also is I'm going to copy this email that was sent out so that you guys can have that for your reference to something that in the chat so again what do you have to do is you basically into that 10 let me grab that pain again so that we're all on the same page you grab that pen you put it in here. Continue and cannot lie to start entering an application so all young people with this is what allows parents are where on the car right now we talked all young people to please complete the application yourself and the reason why we ask this because when you submit an application you want to make sure that email is for the young person and I know that parents like to put their email address cuz they want to see that information first hand but precisely because we're on a virtual platform we want to make sure that we get The Young Person's so that they can still receive all the correspondence throughout the six weeks of the program if they're selected to make sure that email is for the young person email is for professional use only I can't tell you how many times you see an email that's personalized and it's not professional rice and you have a for instance this young person that had a baller 123 that's cool you want to be a baller but want to make sure that you know that you're using is for professional use only on top of that want to make sure that you put in half a day you remember I can't tell you how many times you also get this in freaking this get this, when they question you how can I get access to my application I can't login I forgot my password is no way that we can help troubleshoot the only thing that you could do is go back login and try to forget password and reset your password we want to make sure that he was sending a password to email that you also know the password for so you can log-in okay outside of that everything else is self-explanatory you're going to put in your date of birth your social security number and your first and last name are you free to login in your hop into the application Phase unfortunately I cannot do this right now cuz I'm above that age that won't be able to show you what the application looks like but again it's some basic information as far as your name your address your phone numbers information for school all that jazz is on the application okay but I'm going to cause it here I'm all open up the floor so that you guys can ask any question you can raise your hand you asking the chat box our team is here to stay garnishment okay so I have two questions one question is I saw in the summer I won't be in America so can I still do play unsung America so yes if you're again a student of APR and you're not in America it is okay all you have to do is when we send out a survey when you get selected you would let us know that your wish remote so you can do program remotely to be you don't have to come in person at all thank you and go to the same question so I have someone else from outside APR so can they still do it so my sister is from High School skin she still apply that she wants to work fully remote and should be able to do so do you think I'll let no problem dumb also sing again what is the difference between Career writing and community-based again career-ready is a track for young people to understand how important education is to a meaning. Career in the community-based we don't want to say put importance on that aspect but it is important we definitely do Incorporated in R programming but with the career ready in just a little bit more intensely done top of that the career option is an option that is precisely for certain schools throughout New York City to APR is one of those schools that got awarded their career-ready contract meaning they have precise and they have a precise amount of slots awarded to that school what's a fill up those slots unfortunately will not be able to extend those spots or if a young person did not get selected to the career-ready option to that school their application be automatically transferred over to community-based option would be able to go through a lottery process I'm glad you could help me out with some questions or concerns here I'm also seeing how long is each day so I can't really tell you that right now it all depends on where ever you're young person is assigned to the four s's for Yummy use I already know from the top of my head where I'm trying to organize right now that's only going to be about two to three days a week and those two to three days a week will be a consists of a virtual session and also some work they have to do on their own the older youth on again they could they could also like whether they want to work in person remote or hybrid it'll be up to the work site in order to figure out what they're doing look like now we have Miss Jasmine Parker who has a question yeah hi I was when they said something about that the students already had to apply or show interest and then there was an email that was sent out so what happened for the students that didn't already apply or show interest whatever how do we get the application from that so what you're asking here is young people that did not complete the interest survey you want to know if it still apply yes they can still fly so the reason why we didn't interest survey is so that we could directly Target young people that completed that and also some data so that we can help our development or recruitment so even if you did not complete that survey it is totally okay we're only asking that you go on to the dycd application and you can complete album so it's not really like first it's not really like that you totally get in though it's just for information basic purposes okay so what is the exact website where we can fill out the application so I stared and the top I'm going to pull up again here I'm going to drop it again in the chat for you okay okay thank you and remember you're going to have to interrupt 10 in order to gain access to the application cuz this application is not available in life I want to see it's only available in life for certain schools and young people but thank you. So much longer partying on the phone how can they get assistance application sent out an email blast to you guys also thank you welcome I'm asking what is a community-based application release thing and that is Monday the 22nd and how would you find out I'm pretty sure that all young people Citywide would know when that application long but what you could do is also what we can do is we could share that information with apr's Administration when the application launch is so that you can apply I see a question by Kayla ask him what are the different worksite variety of work sites that does falling at older you category like Monique mention that's why we did request that the interest form does get completed so that way we have an ID young people are interested in but typically we have just to throw some example out that we have law offices in the back we have retail we have done so early like Alexis crazy whatever interests you do have that's why it's best if we put that sleep like I formation on the entry survey so that way we know what the best in a suit to school so we can't precisely say when the deadline is for documents normally when you get selected you have a 3 day when do in order to upload those documents online so it depends on when you're so liked it and we normally give you that time frame or that deadline date with email can I know the interest survey is not over technically but it kinda is at this point useless because we do have the application that's going out live so you could definitely thought the application all the data. going to put in an application when we can see it's the same guy that we were collecting from the interest survey hey I got a question okay so since you guys mentioned 16 year old working papers how to do with my working papers cuz I'm new to this I don't know cuz they said that one when I went over there they said that I need like a job to like send me a note in order to get it so I'm not sure so you're saying that in order to get your working papers someone said that you need to know from your employer yes we did she go precisely can I ask I don't know I'm so I want to say that your school could definitely assist you with obtaining working papers I don't think that you need a note from your employer to obtain working papers security number on social security card and I think that that's all obtaining your working papers from your school your doctor because I've heard that kind of a proof of employment I guess to get your physical what you need for your working papers but that's how something I can help you with as far as the actual physical so you can definitely take that up with what your school go and give it to like my counselor I got I got I got along with your physical antibiotic by cutting for a second because I know there's a lot of questions about working papers and not updating them so the particles still hasn't changed Miss King is still in charge of a hanging out working papers and because I don't know we will be back in the building next week so this will be back so there is a working paper application you need your birth certificate your social security card and a note from the doctor as Miss Garcia said the thing that you're fit to work New Summit those things to miss King and and that's how you get your working papers not if you're not in the building you can email her I'm going to email address in the chat you email her the paperwork ahead of time and I'm sure she will make an appointment with you to come into the building and pick up your working papers I also see a comment that was made about syep last year all right I think you missed writing that information so I know that you're right that's why I P was cut off for suspended last year April very suddenly and that was just due to the pain. well as March 19th will be the afternoon sessions for the Parent-Teacher conferences those will be held from 12:20 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. March 22nd is the heist this is a fun high schools reopen for in-person learning so for all of those interested in returning into the building welcome March 29th through April 2nd will be spring recess in school will be closed as a reminder also please save the date for April 20th which will be the next monthly PA meeting at 6 p.m. and just a special note parent volunteers I host your own Workshop any parent interested in hosting a meeting to share your resources with other Randolph parents please contact Miss Perez or myself so we can set that up for you and we can put our email send the chat if you need sorry hold on also is a reminder for parents and Guardians Of A Philip Randolph students are required to be registered on the New York City student account there's tons of information going on there you can contact Miss Perez at D Perez 40 at schools.nyc.gov if you still need your registration code there's currently voting going on there so I suggest if you haven't already done so please take a moment to do so and also I want to say to all of the parents I know it takes time out of your busy day but please we're having elections coming up soon very easy to complain about the things that you don't like but in order to have skin in the game that kind of helps to be a part of the Parent-Teacher Association I myself have been apart the Randolph staff has been open boca mean and by and it's a great way to have your voice heard just be part of your child's Community Miss Perez Miss Garcia Mister standing the entire staff is always welcome and open like I said it's easy to playing but sometimes it can help just sticking your hand out and having a suggestion or two to help all students succeed those elections will be coming up soon miss Perez one of my dates are dominations anyone who wants to nominate themselves you should do so by April 20th election will be on May 18th the movie Legend thank you for that Miss Davis you're very welcome. Anything I missed and close I think we're good I just wanted to have a few parents left on the line but if anyone's child is coming back as an in-person student next week please make sure to have your uncle would consent form completed before they come into the building is random testing happening weekly for staff and students and every student must have a Copa consent form completed so you can find that form in the next hour if there's like a managed and then a dropped call the consent form there and even if you've already filled it out just make sure it's up to today and you can just refill it out again those are just it's only coming in the building can I just play one final thing before before and in-person let's begin on March 22nd but I do want to make sure that everyone understands that it is for those students who had chosen Blended on the serving before we close in November if your child had chosen to be remotely goals for your child to be remote back in November your child will not be returning to school on the 22nd we're hoping that they will be an option. we don't have information about that but I just kind of wanted to put it out there and if anyone has any questions please feel free to email me have a good night everyone and thank you for thank you for the thank you good night
